- Managed Care Plan. This is a co-payment arrangement. The more involved the dental procedure, the higher the co-payment, allowing employers to pay for a portion of the bill and employees the majority.
Discount Dental Plans
Some insurance carriers give the insured bigger discounted rates provided their network of dentists is used. Some discount plans start as low as $8 per person per month and then the applicant can benefit from discounts between 10 – 60% depending on the treatment. All the plan member needs to do is show his card when visiting any participating plan provider in order to receive most dental services at a discount.
These discount program are not dental health insurance plans and members are obligated to pay for all medical services.

Because of the insurance abuses, that is, people in the past who have taken out insurance and had major work done on their teeth, then canceled the insurance, most insurance companies require that the insured pays in for at least a year and during that year they will pay for very little, perhaps only teeth cleaning.
