There's No such thing as an "instant" quote for renters insurance.
The sites that promise instant quotes ask you for tons of personal information, and then at the end they say "we sent your information to some salesmen. They'll get in touch with you."
Nothing instant about that.
The end result is that you've given lots of personal information to lots of folks you don't know, and you haven't gotten a quote.
There really should be a hall of shame for those web sites.
Two thumbs down.

I know, it's the same with a lot of types of insurance. You fill in endless information only to be told that someone will call you. And then they often go over all of the same information with you again!
Some states require actual (not electronic) signatures, that can sometimes slow things up. But I also think this is due in part to an archaic way of thinking, that leads insurance companies to believe that they can't book a policy without human intervention.
Hardly a timesaver.

And that is the benefit of buying insurance online... A significant cost savings. As long as you receive good customer service and prompt claims handling, it's a bargain.

I recently changed insurance carriers~ I had to, I was paying more than I could afford. I went to compareinsurancee.com and it was pretty easy and faster than I expected. And I now pay much less than I was before...so I am definitely pro- online insurance!
